Wow!

That's all I have to say.

And for that person who called in sick to work to witness a piece of history and thought you'd never be caught, just hope your boss doesn't see this! :)

This is amazing.

Oh Ewe!

Today we got out and went to a couple of outdoor/sporting goods stores. It's amazing b/c the gun dealers can't keep ammo and/or certain types of guns in. Word on the street is that the incoming administration is looking to ban certain types of guns and ammo, and firearm owners and enthusiasts are trying to get their hands on what they can before it's too late. I'm mixed on this whole situation b/c I, myself, am not a user of guns. If using one for protection, I'd be more prone to shooting my foot than an intruder or some unwanted person. However, banning guns isn't going to keep people from having them. Heck, a baseball bat can kill someone if in the wrong hands. I don't know all the specifics, and that's not what I'm here to talk about anyway.

Of course I was bored to death in these stores. There is a clothing section but since I'm not prone (I'm likin' this word!) to wearing camoflauge, I really don't see a need to browse. (Nothing wrong with camo, I just don't wear it!) They did have a basketball game on the tv, but there were so many people in the store that I would have been in the way had I just stood there and watched. Thankfully, my Dare by LG , faithful companion, played sweet music in my ear, and the trip was manageable. One of the stores had some shoes on sale, and seeing as I don't need any shoes, I wasn't going to look. However, a pair caught my eyes. I had never heard of the brand, couldn't find the price, and of course it was the last box. I did find another pair of shoes, children's shoes, in a different style and saw the sale price and figured that these would probably be about double. I walked away from them, but decided to go back and get a price check on them. I got the price check and didn't really want to pay the sale price for them, but thought I'd go ahead. It's been probably a couple of years since I've bought any new shoes, so why not. (The sale price wasn't outrageous by any means, but I'm funny/weird about how much I pay for shoes and purses, and well just about anything!) The best news of all was when I took them to the counter to check out, they rang up for even less than what I was told the sale price was! Ha! Take that!

What's so great about these shoes? Besides being a great buy, they're made of sheepskin so they keep your feet really warm. You don't wear socks with them and they're so comfortable. I have a pair of boots with the sheepskin, but these are shoes, so you don't have to do any lacing. Even neater, they're from the company Acorn, "another comfort idea from the folks comforting the feet of astronauts on all shuttle missions into outerspace since 1982." How neat is that? Oh, and instead of assigning a certain size, they are assigned a range. These are XXS. I don't think I've ever stepped foot in anything labeled XXS. Haha!

For your viewing pleasure...

Chena crying

Yesterday, the dogs were outside and Chena, in perticular, was chewing on one of her bones. She was crying (whining) as she was chewing her bone. It's not unusual for her to cry when she wants something and it's not unusual for her to chew bones. What is unusual is for her to cry while chewing the bone. Why would she do this? Here's what I think...

All the neighborhood dogs were out in their yards at the same time yesterday, or at least all the neighbors surrounding us. They were all barking and whimpering and running the fences just to get a peek and sniff at each other. My guess is that Chena wanted to be chewing on her bone AND chasing the other dogs at the same time and since she could only do one or the other she chose the one she wanted to do the most and did it. And then she cried because she couldn't do have it all.

I'm just guessing here......

Rub a dub dog

Today was bath day for the dogs. Normally it's a daunting task, especially on the colder days when using the outdoor hose isn't an option. Today wasn't too bad. Once they (Chena and Charley) figured out there was no getting out of bathtime, they were okay with it. Of course, this didn't stop them from going outside and rolling around on the ground the first chance they got. So after a brushing, bathing, drying, brushing, and a dental treat, these dawgs are all relaxed and ready to face the week!

Tonight's lineup:
24
The Unit
Desperate Housewives
Brothers and Sisters

(The latter two will be recorded since 24 is a 2 hours tongiht (and tomorrow.) Welcome back, Jack!

"Find the warp, Jimmy!"

Last night, we caught the last 30 minutes of the movie The Wizard.  If you've never seen this, you must.  It was released in 1989 and is the story of these kids making their way across the US to get to this video game contest/convention.  It is so neat to see how much video games have changed in the past 20 years.  I mean, I know they've changed but WOW!  Kids from all over the country battled it out in different games and were eventually narrowed down to 3 contestants.  These 3 contestants would have to play a new video game, never revealed, to receive the grand prize.  (I don't know what the GP was b.c I fell asleep before seeing.)  What was the game, you ask?  Super Mario Brothers 3.  Yep! SMB3.  I remember this was one of my favorite games.  The original and the 3rd.

Oh yeah...Christian Slater, Beau Bridges, and Fred Savage are in this movie.

Check it out if you can find it!

Bye bye, Blago

Just when I was starting to like him, the Illinois House has voted 114-1 to have Governor Blagojevich impeached.  Where did the change of heart come from on my part, you ask?  Let me tell you.

As unlikeable as the guy is, his recent Senate appointment was nothing short of genius.  His candidate, (Roland Burris) has held positions in the state so he's not completely short on experience, is scandal free, and has a pretty kewl name.    He was former Attorney General for Illinois.  Obama was the only black seated Senator, and Mr. Roland Burris is black.  (Sidenote: Race doesn't matter to me, but it's still an ongoing struggle in this country.)  Sen. Harry Reid and his posse were so focused on turning away anybody that Blago appointed that they forgot to take their visors off, their tunnel vision visors.  Granted, this only ended up hurting Mr. Burris this week when he was turned away from being sworn in.  He was, however, invited the the *welcome* party for all the senators later that day.  (He has since been appointed.)

Blago is so fearless that he turned his own party against itself without the party even realizing it! I will end with this.  I'm not a party person, I'm just not for most of the Dems that are sitting high on their nests right now.

Happy Friday!

Happy New Year!

I hope your New Year is going as great as you knew it would be.  It's been a while (almost 2 weeks!) since posting.  Can you believe Christmas was 12 days ago?  Twelve.  {insert something about the twelve days of Christmas here}

I'm excited because this week is "premiere" week.  Not season premieres, just picking up where the seasons left off before the holidays.  Here's the lineup of shows I'll be watching and/or DVR-ing this week.

Sunday-  Desperate Housewives, The Unit, Brothers and Sisters
Monday-  One Tree Hill
Tuesday- Homeland Security, Scrubs
Wednesday-  Free night
Thursday-  Ugly Betty, Kath and Kim, The Office
Friday- Ghost Whisperer
Saturday- SNL

Thanks to Santa, we now have an XBOX 360 and I have to tell ya...those Lego games are addicting!  When Mama was here for New Year's, I bought Star Wars: The Complete Saga for the console. It was so much fun to play with her, especially when the characters would *magically* change on us.  :)  If you've played any of the Lego games you know, but for those of you that don't, the characters build stuff and shoot stuff and blow stuff up.  And they also shake objects that glow until coins or hearts or various odds 'n ends fall out.  F-u-n!

So, out of this comes a true-life story:

I had been drinking a lot and needed to put the bottle down.  Water, that is.  I needed to put the water bottle down.  So I did just that.  I turned around briefly and when I went back to the counter I saw things shaking.  I have played too many levels of the game in intervals too close together because for a brief moment I thought coins were about to come out of the bottle!

Turns out the bottle was just steadying itself, but I thought I had The Force with me there for a second.  8D

Which leads me to what I will end with......Happy (early) Birthday, Elvis!
*I don't know how I got from there to here either*

G'nite!
